Digital Studios

As part of the A-Z project we developed ‘Digital Studios’: practice as research sessions where all participants can play with different, though mostly film, technologies in studio settings (such as live feed, microphones, GoPro and handheld cameras), to understand what kinds of methods, angles, approaches and technology can be utilised to best capture particular types of exercises or practices. Certain filming or digital manipulation techniques can give the viewer as much of an embodied sense of the action as possible, helpful for terms such as Grounding or Acrobatics; or GoPro cameras can help give a birds-eye view from the trainee’s perspective to help them understand their own Alignment; and onscreen animation can show the trajectory of movement in and highlight key aspects of acrobatic exercises. Watch our film and create a Digital Studio yourself.
